A Guide to Madesimo Italy for Summer and Winter!

Madesimo, Italy is a small ski resort town with big visitor appeal. Located in the Italian lakes of Northern Italy, right on the border of Switzerland, the resort is at an altitude of 1550 meters, and its highest lift goes to 2880 meters. The great advantage of altitude ensures that the resort can keep all of its twenty-nine downhill pistes open throughout the season, making ski conditions in the cases of advance bookings less of a gamble.

There exist multiple Madesimo hotel options, despite the fact that the town itself is quite small, and one of the smaller Italian ski stations.  There are nine Madesimo hotels listed online, all of which offer different amenities and varying price ranges (your standard Hotel Italia won’t be available).  However, you might be able to find some luxury Italian villas in the area. The five top-rated hotels Madesimo are the Sport Hotel Alpina, the Hotel Arlecchino, the Albergo La Soldinella, the Hotel Mai Tardi, and the Hotel Andossi.  All these Italian hotels offer individuals and groups that are planning their ski vacations several packages and several lodging options during your Italian holidays trip.  Be sure to read up about each hotel Madesimo has to offer.

If you are traveling on a very limited budget, but still wish to enjoy the beauty of the province of Sondrio, consider staying in a hostel setting. One hostel is available near Madesimo. It is located three kilometers from the town proper, and even closer to the ski lifts. It is the Casa delle Nevi Hostel, an affiliate of the group Hostelling International. This hostel offers visitors multiple economic boarding options, including access to kitchen, a choice of double rooms or rooms with four or six beds, free breakfasts, and a free shuttle to the ski lifts.

When planning a Madesimo ski vacation, consider looking for trip packages that include lodgings, lift tickets, and sometimes even travel arrangements. Although Madesimo vacations are already reasonably priced, it is often possible to locate even greater deals when you book all of the trip elements in one place, or several months in advance.

Are you planning a touring vacation of Italy, and wondering about the possibility of fitting in a couple of days for skiing? Madesimo is an excellent location in this case as well. Daily lift tickets are available at reasonable rates, and with the resort located within two hours of an airport, and only half an hour from the train station, it is not so remote that it becomes necessary to book an extended vacation just to make the trip worthwhile. The resort’s nearest airport is in Milan, a destination in itself that visitors would be well-advised to explore for its multiple tourist activities, its reputation of being one of the world’s fashion centers, and its historic La Scala opera house. The nearest train station to Madesimo is Chiavenna.
