Planning note
Choose the town before the lake view
Lake Como and Lake Garda each contain distinct towns and stretches of shore. Match a town to the journeys you want to make, rather than treating either lake as one resort.
A few things to keep in mind

Lake Como: name your lake town
Como town, Bellagio and the western shore are different bases around the same lake. Choose the town or stretch of shore first, then compare the actual hotel address with the places you want to visit. Compare Como town, Bellagio and the western shore before booking a room.
Lake Garda: name the town first
Lake Garda is a large destination, not a single town. The southern peninsula, western lakeside towns and northern shore create different journeys. Confirm the municipality and map pin before comparing a hotel with your daily plans. The southern peninsula, lakeside towns and the northern shore offer different bases.
Test the arrival before the itinerary
Put the actual arrival point beside the hotel address. Compare the luggage journey, check-in timing and any need to store bags. A beautiful district can still be the wrong base for an early departure.
Compare two addresses, not two photographs
Choose one hotel from each base and write down how you would spend an ordinary day from it. Compare the journeys, meals and return in the evening. Keep the room category and booking conditions beside that plan.
